I had spent a lot of my life searching for my passion so to speak. I went to college...a couple of times, received several degrees, and still I was searching. I think it came down to finding the root of who I was as a person. I have always veered to natural beauty whether it was a vista from a hike in the Grand Tetons or overlooking Luxor from a dawn hot air balloon ride. That combined with my enduring need to help people started my path on becoming a soapmaker (saboni). We are more informed than ever as a society and that includes what we are putting on and in our bodies. As a nurse I speak to people about what is going in, as a soapmaker I can speak as to what we are putting on it. Today most of the soaps and beauty products we put on our body are laced with or are full fledged detergents, chemicals, etc. I started this path to make my own life better, to treat my skin better and thus my soul. There is something very therapeutic about creating something in betterment of yourself and others, something inherently natural. I invite you to join me on this trip to self awareness for a lack of a better term. Be ever mindful of your body and what it's saying to you. As us nurses know, our skin is the largest organ we have, do take care of it and it will take care of you! Thank you for taking the time to read my story and may it inspire you.
